Rare Natrolite Crystal Specimen, Chimney Rock, New Jersey, 1973

Large Natrolite Crystal specimen. A very rare find. This Natrolite specimen was mined by Joel Baskin in 1973 from the Chimney Rock Quarry in New Jersey.  Natrolite is the only member of the Zeolite family that can be faceted into a gemstone. However, Natrolite crystals rarely form large enough to cut. The Chimney Rock Natrolites had both the size and clarity appropriate for faceting. They are now very difficult to find. I purchased several pieces from Joel's son at the 2024 Springfield East Coat Gem and Mineral Show.
